If you love vampire romance series, you will enjoy Dark Prince. It is written by Christine Feehan and is the first book in a twenty book series.

This series follows the Dark Carpathians who have lived for hundreds of years and are in danger of becoming extinct. The females of the group, what few there are, have been unable to carry their babies or keep them alive for years and the situation is getting worse.

Raven Whitney, has gone on vacation to the Carpathian Mountains to relax from her job. Raven is telepathic and helps locate serial killers.

Mikhail Dubrinsky is the prince of the Carpathians and is ready to end it all. The males of his species have a darkness that grows in them as they age. The only way to stop the darkness is to find their life mate who will push the darkness back with their light.

The problem for the Carpathian men is that there have been no females of their species born in hundreds of years, so they have not been able to find life mates. Without their life mates the males will eventually turn into vampires who can only feel if they murder.

The job of the dark carpathians is to track down those who have turned and kill them. No easy task especially when they may be forced to kill their friends and family.

Raven has connected to Mikhail telepathically and feels how lonely and despondent he is and is determined to find Mikhail and help him. If she cannot locate him he is planning on walking out into the sunlight to prevent himself from turning into a monster his friends will have to hunt down.

Once Raven has found Mikhail she discovers he believes she is his life mate. Raven is not ready to give up her life to live in the Carpathian Mountains, but she soon learns that if she is not connected to Mikhail physically she will die. This is a problem since she is human and Mikhail must go underground during the day. Even while Mikhail is underground during the day Raven finds herself having to deal with her thoughts that he is dead and she will never see him again.

This is a touching and very enjoyable love story that will grab you from the beginning and leave you wanting to start the next book, even before you have finished the first one.
